Update on Dr. Ruth

Good morning Friends and Family,

These last few weeks have gone well. There have been good days and bad days, but mom is up and moving around. I must say, she really does look great.

Yesterday, she went to meet with a few oncologists and it is looking like the beginning of her chemotherapy treatment will start in the next two weeks. We are still deciding what type of chemo treatment to go with, but everything is looking to be on track.

Mom goes back to her surgeon today for her first check up since she left the hospital. We will keep you all in the loop once we know more.

Again, thank you so much for all your thoughts and prayers. You have all been more than kind to our entire family and we are so grateful.

Love,
Caroline

We're drinking coffee!

Good morning friends,

First and foremost I must apologize for not updating this more, but honestly, we have been doing quite well and there has not been much to update!

Mom is eating and had her first cup of coffee a few days ago, which was one of the things that she missed most! She is up and moving around and, for having a huge surgery last week, doing incredible. All of her hard work in the hospital and with physical therapy has paid off!

As for next steps she will go back and meet with the doctors in Birmingham in two weeks and will from there figure out our next move.

Again, thank you for all your prayers, cards, food and everything!

We will keep you updated.

Best,
Caroline

Good morning friends!

I hope you all had a wonderful and safe weekend. We are extremely excited because dr. Ruth came home yesterday and is doing well.

We will keep you updated on our next steps soon, but for now we are just glad to be back on the lake!

Love,
Caroline

Great night last night and we have already been up walking this morning!

Dr. Howard just came in and told us we are making great progress and that mom is working super hard. I wanted to tell him if work ethic is what it takes to get better and beat this thing, then Dr. Ruth is going to overcome with flying colors! She's the strongest person I know.. And I'm sure one of the strongest you know as well.

If things keep progressing well we could (keep your fingers crossed) be home by Monday, which would be amazing!

As for today, we are going to keep moving (literally) in the right direction and are hoping for a good report from pathology.

thank you again for all your support!

Friends,

We are having a great afternoon today! Mom's physical therapy went swimmingly well! She got up, walked to the nurses station and back, and is now sitting up in a chair!

We are also, in the least technical terms, 'losing tubes' which means they are slowly but surely getting rid of all the things she is hooked up to.

So all in all, a 180 from yesterday!

Thank you again for all your thoughts and prayers!!

Long afternoon- lots of pain.

-Caroline
Good afternoon!
We had a good evening last night. Mom made it through without too much pain and got decent sleep. Her stomach is still a bit queezy, but that is to be expected. Dr. Howard said her progress is on track and we have moved to the floor, room W750. Mom even got up and walked a few steps this morning! It really is crazy how quickly they want you up and moving.

Also, the nursing staff has been EXCELLENT. We could not have asked for better help so far..it really makes a difference.

Thank you again for thinking of us and we'll keep you updated.

Love,
Caroline
